Do pests carry diseases?

Yes. Pests are big carriers of diseases. They are a very serious problem to your health and others around you. Insects like mosquitos, lice, fleas and bedbugs are able to give many diseases caused by infectious agents known as viruses and bacteria.

 

So, what are the diseases that can be transmitted to you? Here are a few of the major diseases in which pests are the most likely to carry into your home.

 

Lyme Disease

What kind on bugs carry Lyme disease?

Lyme disease is transmitted to humans through tick bites which carries a bacterium known as Borrelia Burgdorferi. This disease is the most likely the worst disease you could possibly catch. 

 

Symptoms of Lyme Disease

  • Fever
  • Headache 
  • Fatigue 
  • Skin Rash
  • Muscle pain
  • Tiredness

 

If you have the symptoms of Lyme disease, see your GP asap. Let the GP know if you have been bitten by a tick, or if you've never seen a tick on your skin but you have been in the woods or areas with long grass.
